Julia Roy is the Tax Manager at Strategic Navigation Group, PC. With more than 20 years of experience in accounting and tax, she brings a broad and well-rounded perspective to her work with clients.
Julia specializes in family office services, helping clients with accounting, financial management, and tax planning. Her experience also spans private equity, construction, and client advisory services. Before joining SNG, she worked at a niche CPA firm in the San Francisco Bay Area serving high-net-worth real estate clients.
Julia graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in communications and later earned her Certificate in Accounting from UC Berkeley.
After 15 years in California and 14 years in Utah, Julia considers Utah home and enjoys all the outdoor opportunities it offers. She has also lived in Washington, Idaho, Oklahoma, and Australia, experiences that shaped her appreciation for different communities and perspectives. Julia and her husband, John, have eight sons and one beloved chocolate lab. They enjoy hiking, pickleball, paddle boarding, golf, and traveling together.
Luke is an accountant at Strategic Navigation Group, PC, where he specializes in bookkeeping and assists with preparing tax returns for a diverse range of clients. He’s gained valuable experience in accounting roles, including more than a year and a half with the firm. Luke takes pride in helping clients stay organized, understand their financial information, and feel confident about their overall financial picture.
He is currently pursuing his accounting degree at Weber State University and is working toward his long-term goal of becoming a CPA. Outside of work and school, Luke enjoys golfing, traveling, and riding four-wheelers. He also values spending time with friends and family and is a big sports fan who enjoys watching games and attending live sporting events whenever possible.
Jeffrey Shaw brings more than five decades of accounting and financial expertise to Strategic Navigation Group, PC, where he remains an active presence and a living piece of the firm’s history. At 80 years old, Jeff continues to serve clients he has known for nearly 40 years — a testament to the trust and loyalty he has built throughout his career.
Jeff began his professional journey at Moss Adams in Portland, Oregon, launching a career in audit that would take him back to Salt Lake City, where he continued his work as an auditor with the same firm. He later stepped into the private sector as Chief Financial Officer for a large regional car dealership group, bringing sharp financial acumen to a complex, multi-location business environment.
In 1988, Jeff made the leap into public accounting, founding Thurman & Shaw in Salt Lake City. The firm relocated to Bountiful in 1997 and became Shaw & Co., evolving through several iterations as it grew and changed. In 2013, Jeff and his wife Rosanne answered a call to serve as LDS missionaries in Manchester, England. That chapter of service led to a significant transition — Reed Nielsen and Jon Shaw purchased Jeff’s practice, eventually building it into what is today Strategic Navigation Group, PC. Many of the clients Jeff brought with him in 1988 remain with the firm to this day.
Jeff’s influence on the profession extends beyond his own career. He and Rosanne are the proud parents of five children, four of whom have followed him into the accounting field, and they are grandparents to 17 grandchildren and great-grandparents to two. His family is both his legacy and his joy. Those who know Jeff describe him as a model of consistent work ethic, quiet integrity, and genuine friendship — a man who has always made the people around him feel like they matter.
